As part of my Capstone 1 project in the Digital Design and Development program, I developed a design system while redesigning the website for Outback Nursery, a well-established garden centre located on Vancouver Island. The goal of the project was to modernize the site’s visual identity, improve user experience, and enhance mobile responsiveness. The design system I created included a set of UI components, typography scales, color palettes, and spacing guidelines to ensure consistency across the site. I also incorporated accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design principles to make the site inclusive and functional across devices. Throughout the project, I collaborated with peers for user testing, wireframing, and prototyping. The final outcome was a streamlined, user-friendly interface that reflected Outback Nursery’s brand personality while supporting their business goals.
